Lady Dogs lose Felder, Russell for season
ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia's Ebony Felder and Reicina Russell will not play during the upcoming 2005-06 season, Lady Bulldogs coach Andy Landers announced Tuesday.
Felder, who was granted a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA this past summer, was forced to retire from basketball because of chronic knee injuries. Felder missed the 2000-01 season following shoulder surgery and also sat out last season due to knee pain. She was an All-SEC freshman selection in 2002 but played sparingly the next two seasons due to injuries.
Russell, who transferred to Georgia from Penn State last fall, has left the team for personal reasons. Russell was a Big Ten all-freshmen honoree at Penn State during the 2003-04 season when she led the Lady Lions in rebounding and blocked shots.
Georgia was ranked fourth last week in ESPN.com's preseason top 25 poll.
