A&M coach Blair gets three-year extension
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M women's basketball coach Gary Blair has been given a three-year contract extension through 2011.
He signed a five-year contract when he came to Texas A&M from Arkansas in 2003.
Last season Blair helped the Aggies to their first winning record since 1996 and a trip to the quarterfinals of the WNIT.
"Coach Blair's team showed marked improvement last year and judging by the way his team is practicing, I see that success continuing," Texas A&M athletic director Bill Byrne said in a statement. "He is a wonderful representative for Texas A&M and women's basketball, and I'm proud to have him as our coach."
The extension was approved by the Texas A&M Board of Regents on Friday.
The Aggies begin their season on Nov. 21 against St. Peter's.
