Center Feickert plans to go to Kansas
GOODRICH, N.D -- Sheridan County center Rebecca Feickert has decided to play college basketball in Kansas.
Feickert, a 6-foot-2 senior, said she plans to sign her letter of intent with the University of Kansas next Wednesday.
"It's always important to go as high as you think you can," Feickert said. "I'm excited about playing [NCAA] Division I."
Feickert averaged 22 points, 16 rebounds and four blocked shots a game last season, and finished with 32 three-pointers. She shot 51 percent from the field and 85.4 percent from the free-throw line.
Last spring, as a junior, Feickert was the only non-senior member of the North Dakota Class B girls all-state team.
Feickert, who plans a career in law, also considered North Dakota State, the University of Central Florida and Drake. She sent a tape to Kansas last spring and gained exposure by playing on an AAU traveling team.
The Kansas coaching staff visited Feickert in late September and brought her to the school for an official visit.
"They kind of classified me as a face-up 4," Feickert said. "I can play both inside and outside."
Sheridan County includes players from the towns of McClusky and Goodrich.
