NORMAN, Okla. -- Texas Tech coach Marsha Sharp was taken to a hospital briefly Wednesday after suffering flu-like symptoms and missed the Lady Raiders' 63-57 loss to Oklahoma on Wednesday night.

Officials said Sharp, 53, was at a short game-day shooting session with her players at the Lloyd Noble Center when she felt nauseous and short of breath. She was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, team spokeswoman Tammi Hoffman said. Sharp was released after tests came back normal.

The medication Sharp took for the nausea caused her to be too sedated to coach the Lady Raiders on Wednesday, Hoffman said. Assistant coach Krista Gerlich ran the bench in the absence of Sharp, who plans to return Saturday, when Texas Tech hosts Nebraska.

Sharp, in her 24th year at Tech, was alert and her vital signs stable at the hospital, Tech said in a release.

Tech (7-7, 2-1) was coming off a 64-62 win Sunday over then-No. 5 Baylor.
