Rutgers' Reed transfers to Oklahoma State
STILLWATER, Okla. -- Charese "Tudy" Reed will join the women's basketball team at Oklahoma State, coach Kurt Budke said Friday.
Reed played the past two seasons for Rutgers. The 5-foot-11 guard from Chicago made four starts and averaged 1.6 points and 1.0 rebounds in 29 games this past season for the Scarlet Knights.
Because of NCAA transfer rules, she will have to sit out at Oklahoma State during the 2006-07 season. She has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
"We are very excited and feel fortunate that Tudy has decided to join the Cowgirl basketball family," Budke said in a statement. "She is a tremendous athlete with outstanding leaping ability and plays the style of basketball that we want to play here."
Reed also had considered Iowa, Purdue, Texas and Texas Tech.
Oklahoma State finished 6-22 last season and went 0-16 in Big 12 Conference play, becoming just the second team in Big 12 history to go winless against league competition.
