FIU's Russo is 16th D-I women's coach to 600 wins

MIAMI -- Florida International coach Cindy Russo won her 600th career game on Saturday to become the 16th Division I women's basketball coach to reach that plateau.
Russo's Golden Panthers (7-3) rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat Central Connecticut 73-51.
In her 30th season as a coach, Russo is 600-255 -- 560-233 in her 28 years at FIU. She was 40-22 in two years at Lamar, 1978-80.
Russo is one of 13 active Division I women's coaches with at least 600 wins. Geno Auriemma won his 598th game on Saturday when No. 6 UConn beat Oakland, Mich., 85-53. Arizona's Joan Bonvicini has 597 wins.
