Tonight's Duke-North Carolina in Chapel Hill will be the third straight meeting between the teams in which they have been ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation (twice last season). Duke has been No. 1 all three times, but North Carolina won both meetings a year ago.

Duke will have been involved in each of the last seven No. 1 vs. No. 2 meetings in Division I women's basketball (six times as the top-ranked team). The Blue Devils are 2-4 in the previous six. Duke had never participated in a 1 vs. 2 women's basketball game before this streak.

This will be the 40th meeting of the Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the poll. The first eight games were all won by the No. 1 team, but No. 2 has now won 20 of the last 31, including five straight.
