Coale's kicks bring in $2,000 for breast cancer research
NORMAN, Okla. -- A pair of pink Converse shoes that Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale wore during a game fetched $2,000 in an auction to raise money for breast cancer research, the university said Wednesday.
Along with the low-top Chuck Taylor shoes, Oklahoma also raised $5,040 by selling 21 autographed T-shirts worn by Sooners and Texas players prior to a Feb. 12 game. Another $1,775 was raised through donations at the game and a silent auction of three other T-shirts that day.
Bids on the other items were taken for one week.
A total of $8,815 in proceeds will go to the Breast Institute at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center.
