EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State women's basketball coach Joanne P. McCallie has signed a five-year contract Saturday worth $500,000 annually.

The rollover deal, which goes into effect July 1, could be worth as much as $643,000 with incentives, the university said. It boosts her current $232,875 base salary to $325,000 next season.

Speculation had swirled regarding McCallie's future after the Spartans were bounced from the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Tuesday with a 70-57 loss to Rutgers. McCallie had been mentioned as a possible candidate for open jobs at Florida, LSU and Texas.

She took the team to the national championship game in 2005, a loss to Baylor, and has compiled a 149-75 record with the Spartans. Michigan State is one of only 11 programs to win at least one NCAA Tournament game in each of the past four seasons.

"The entire East Lansing and Lansing communities have been incredible in their support of our family, team, and program," McCallie said in a statement. "We're looking forward to all the exciting challenges ahead for our basketball program."
