Texas A&M loses freshman White for season
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M's Tyra White will undergo season-ending surgery in December to heal a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.
The 6-foot freshman guard suffered the injury in four minutes of play in Texas A&M's season opener at SMU on Nov. 9 in Dallas.One of the nation's most-heralded recruits out of Kansas City's Hickman Mills High School, White was rated as the No. 17 overall prospect in the class of 2007 by HoopGurlz.com. A McDonald's High School All-American and Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior, she was rated the fourth-best shooting guard in the country by the All-Star Girls Basketball Report.
