Greene to have surgery to repair torn ACL in right knee
STORRS, Conn. -- Connecticut guard Kalana Greene will have surgery Friday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.
Greene, a top defensive player for the second-ranked Huskies, was hurt in the first half of UConn's 97-39 win over South Carolina on Monday night. She was driving inside for a layup when she planted for the shot and her right knee slid out from under her as she collided with a South Carolina player.
Team officials said Tuesday that Greene will have surgery at the UConn Health Center in Farmington.
Greene, a junior from Saint Stephens, S.C., is averaging 8.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
