Lady Tigers' Fowles has knee surgery, will miss 2-4 weeks
BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU's Sylvia Fowles will miss two to four weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on her right knee.
The senior injured her knee during the second half of No. 8 LSU's win over Miami in Cancun, Mexico, last Wednesday. Orthopedic surgeon Brent Bankston operated on Fowles' knee in Baton Rouge last Friday.
Fowles had a partial tear in the lateral meniscus in her right knee. Bankston repaired the tear and removed a small portion of the meniscus, LSU said.
"She should be fine," said Brian Miller, LSU's associate sports information director. "Once she gets back to full strength, she should be good to go."
Fowles has led LSU to three straight Final Four appearances. Against Miami, she tied Julie Gross' (1977-80) school record with her 68th career double-double.
