SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame freshman forward Devereaux Peters will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn left ACL in Sunday's 81-66 victory over Pittsburgh (No. 15 ESPN/USA Today, No. 18 AP), the school announced Monday.
The injury was confirmed after Peters underwent an MRI on Monday. She will have surgery at a later date, and no timetable has been determined for her rehabilitation.
Peters is Notre Dame's fourth-leading scorer, averaging 9.0 points for the Fighting Irish (18-5). She ranks second on the team in rebounds (5.6) and is third in the Big East in blocks per game (1.96).
"Devereaux is an outstanding young woman with a bright future ahead of her," Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw said. "We expect that she will bounce back from this injury with the same determination and desire that she already has shown this season."
