Santa Clara hires Gonzaga assistant Mountain as coach
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Santa Clara has hired top Gonzaga assistant Jennifer Mountain as its new women's basketball coach.
Mountain received a five-year contract Tuesday to replace Michelle Bento-Jackson, whose contract was not renewed after six seasons.
The Broncos went 20-11 last season, finishing in second place in the West Coast Conference and losing to eventual champion San Diego in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
Mountain had been an assistant to Kelly Graves at Gonzaga since 2001. She was previously on the Bulldogs' staff from 1991-93 after scoring 1,422 career points for Gonzaga.
