INDIANAPOLIS -- The new Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, already slated for the 2012 Super Bowl, is one of eight finalists for the NCAA Division I women's basketball Final Four that year.
The NCAA said Wednesday the five tourney hosts from 2012 through 2016 will be selected from among Indianapolis; Columbus, Ohio; Dallas; Denver; Nashville, Tenn.; New Orleans; San Antonio; and Tampa, Fla.
The Division I basketball committee will visit each city in September and October, and the finalists will present bids to the committee in November. The five sites will be announced in mid-November. Of the eight finalists, Indianapolis, New Orleans, San Antonio and Tampa have hosted previous Final Fours.
