Southern Illinois' Eikenberg to resign
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois women's basketball coach Dana Eikenberg is resigning.
The school's athletics director said Eikenberg is stepping down after five seasons with the Salukis. Her resignation takes effect Thursday.
Eikenberg inherited a program in 2004 that had finished in the bottom three of the conference seven straight seasons.
Over the next five seasons, she went 53-92 and was the Missouri Valley coach of the year after the 2006-07 season, when the Salukis won the league's regular-season title.
Southern was 10-20 in 2007-08 and 9-19 last season, losing in the first round of last month's league tournament.
