STORRS, Conn. -- Connecticut guard Caroline Doty underwent surgery Tuesday on her left knee to repair a torn anterior cruciate.

Doty, a junior, will be out for the entire 2010-11 season and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Doty tore the ACL in late July during what school officials called a basketball-related activity.

"She has been through quite a bit in her young career and I have no doubt she will work extremely hard to overcome this as well," coach Geno Auriemma said in a statement. "We look forward to her being ready to go for the start of next season."

Last season, Doty averaged 6.8 points per game for the Huskies, who went undefeated and won the national championship.

Doty missed the second half of her freshman season after suffering a similar injury to the same knee. She also missed her senior season in high school after tearing the same ACL while playing soccer.
