The top five teams in the ESPN/USA Today women's basketball coaches' poll are unchanged this week, but a loss sent Ohio State tumbling.
Connecticut (9-0), Stanford (6-0), Baylor (9-1), Duke (11-0) and Xavier (9-0) remained first through fifth in the rankings based on the balloting of 31 head coaches. Connecticut received all 31 first-place votes as the Huskies close in on an 88th straight victory, which would tie them with the UCLA men for the longest streak in Division I basketball history.
The team they'll play to equal the record is Ohio State. The Buckeyes, unbeaten and No. 6 heading into the week, lost at unranked Syracuse and slipped four spots to No. 10. That allowed No. 6 Tennessee (9-1), No. 7 Texas A&M (8-1), No. 8 West Virginia (10-0) and N. 9 UCLA (8-0) to all climb a spot.
Baylor and Tennessee meet Tuesday night (7 p.m. ET, ESPN2). It is the only matchup of ranked teams until Sunday, when Connecticut faces Ohio State and Stanford visits Tennessee.
