Texas AM, TCU to settle state bragging rights in New Jersey

No. 11 TCU (18-11) at No. 6 Texas AM (23-8) 9:30 pm EST

TRENTON, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Sixth-seeded Texas AM hopes to topple intrastate rival TCU on Sunday when they collide in a first-round matchup in the Cleveland Region.

The Aggies lead the all-time series with the No. 11 Lady Frogs, 27-2, but the teams are meeting for the first time since the Southwest Conference broke up in 1996. Texas AM has won 13 straight games over TCU, dating to 1990.

The Aggies are making just their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning its most games since 1994, when they reached the round of 16. Texas AM was knocked out in the opening round of the 1996 Tournament - its last appearance in the "Big Dance."

The Lady Frogs won six of their last eight games to earn an at-large bid to their sixth straight NCAA Tournament.

The winner of Sunday's game will face either third-seeded Rutgers or 14th-seeded Dartmouth.
