Colorado State 85, Texas Southern 51

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- Melissa Dennett had 20 points and
Lindsay Thomas added 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Colorado
State past Texas Southern 85-51 on Friday night.

Dennett was 6-for-7 shooting in the second for Colorado State
(1-0). Vanessa Espinoza had seven assists and 12 points for the

Crystal Robinson and Alena Noel had nine points each for Texas
Southern (0-1). The Tigers turned the ball over 11 times and led
only once, 12-11 after Alexis Moore's layup with 13:17 left in the
first half.

CSU outscored Texas Southern 29-10 the rest of the half to lead

Moore got Texas Southern as close as 49-34 with a jumper seven
minutes into the second half. Dennett had six of Colorado State's
next nine points to put CSU ahead 58-36.

Colorado State shot 67 percent in the second half. Texas
Southern was 7-for-26 on 3-pointers.

It was Colorado State's 17th straight home victory.
