MISSOULA (AP) -- Hollie Tyler had 13 points, 13 rebounds and four
blocked shots Friday in Montana's 67-51 victory over Western
Jody McLeod and Julie Deming each scored 15 points for Montana
(10-2) while Katie Edwards had 14 points.
Tyler came into the game needing 14 points to become the 21st
Montana player to score 1,000 career points.
Montana jumped out to an early 11-2 lead before Western Michigan
answered with a 17-3 run, including six straight points from Lori
Crisman, to take a 19-14 lead midway through the first half.
Western Michigan guard Maria Jilian hit a 3-pointer with 5:07
left in the half to tie the score at 25, before Montana went on an
11-2 run to take a 36-27 halftime lead.
Western Michigan (5-6) got within 41-31 on a jumper by Casey
Rost with 17:53 remaining before Montana pulled away to take a
19-point lead three times in the second half, the last at 66-47 on
a free throw by Lynsey Monaco with 1:33 remaining.
Rost led Western Michigan with 21 points and seven rebounds.
Montana's defense held the Broncos to 24 points under their
season scoring average of over 75 points.
