Houston 60, Cincinnati 56

HOUSTON (AP) -- Chandi Jones scored 23 points and made a key
steal to help No. 25 Houston rally past Cincinnati 60-56 on Friday
night.

With the Lady Cougars trailing 56-55, Jones stole the ball and
handed it to Sancho Lyttle, who hit a layup to give Houston the
lead with 41 seconds left.

Jones made a free throw with 23 seconds to go, and teammate
Nicole Oliver sank two more foul shots with 3 seconds remaining for
the final margin.

Houston (15-2, 4-0 Conference USA) jumped out to a 17-3 lead in
the first six minutes, but Cincinnati went on a 24-4 run to take a
27-21 lead. The Lady Cougars closed the gap to 32-29 at halftime.

Jones scored 14 points after halftime, including Houston's first
nine of the second half. Lyttle added 19 points and six rebounds.
Oliver had five steals.

Karen Twehues, who shot 6-of-9 from 3-point range, led the
Bearcats with 20 points and seven rebounds. Treasure Humphries
added 13 points, and Debbie Merrill scored 11 for Cincinnati (10-9,
1-4).
