Hurricanes snap three-game losing streak

MIAMI (Ticker) -- Tamara Jones scored 21 points to help No. 23
Miami defeat St. John's, 85-74, in the Big East Conference on
Tuesday.

Leading by seven points at halftime, the Hurricanes (17-4, 6-4 Big East) held the Red Storm to 29 percent shooting in the second half and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Jones shot 8-of-11 from the field, pulled down five rebounds and
collected five steals.

Shaquana Wilkins had 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and grabbed
seven boards for Miami, which finished with 18 steals and five blocks
in the contest.

Yalonda McCormick chipped in with eight assists and six steals
for the Hurricanes, who finished shooting 48 percent from the
field.

Kim MacMillan, who converted just 4-of-16 attempts from 3-point
range and committed six turnovers, had 20 points for St. John's
(9-13, 3-8).

Shemika Stevens scored 17 points and Kati Kurtosi added 14

before fouling out for the Red Storm, who trailed by as many as
24 points in the second half.
