Eagles overcome slowdown bid

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- Brooke Queenan and Kathrin Ress scored 18 points apiece, leading Boston College (No. 21 ESPN/USA Today; No. 20 AP) to a 69-61 victory over Holy Cross on Wednesday night.

BC (4-1) led 30-29 at halftime, shooting 48 percent with Ress getting 11 of her points. But Laura Aloisi and Brittany Keil combined for 13 points as Holy Cross slowed the pace of the game to keep close.

Keil led Holy Cross (3-3) with 13 points.

Queenan scored five points, including a three-point play, and Jessalyn Deveny made a 3-point basket as the Eagles went on an 11-1 run to take a 46-34 lead with 13:23 remaining.

Holy Cross rallied on baskets by Sarah Placek and Maggie Fontana, and Keil hit a 3-pointer to close the gap to 54-59 with 6:14 left.

Ress then took over, scoring six points to key a 10-2 run that gave BC a 64-51 lead with 1:39 remaining.
