ATHENS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio State matched the record for the most
lopsided victory in the women's program when the Buckeyes (No. 10 ESPN/USA Today; No. 11 AP) defeated Ohio 107-37 Wednesday night.
Reserve Tamarah Riley scored 18 points in 18 minutes, and Caity
Matter added 14 points for the Buckeyes (6-1). Ohio State also won
by 70 points when it defeated Akron 105-35 on Feb. 22, 1977.
The Buckeyes made 40 of 59 shots (67.8 percent) while holding
the Bobcats (2-2) to 21.2 percent shooting (14-for-66).
The rest of the stats were just as lopsided. Ohio State
outrebounded Ohio 45-27, had 19 more assists (22-3), nine fewer
turnovers (21-12) and six more steals (11-5).
The Buckeyes also made 10 of 15 shots from 3-point range and
went 17-for-19 at the foul line. The Bobcats hit only 6 of 28 shots
behind the arc and attempted just four foul shots, making three.
Ohio State scored 16 points before Ohio got its first basket
when Lauren Revesv made a jumper almost six minutes into the first
half. The Buckeyes scored the next 10 points to take a 26-2 lead.
Jessica Davenport, Michelle Munoz, Beth Howe and Stephanie
Blanton added 12 points apiece and Candace Dark had 11 for the
Buckeyes.
