    GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Oregon State senior guard Shannon Howell got a game-high 36 points Sunday but the Beavers (2-5) lost 82-70 to the University of Florida.

    Howell scored 22 of Oregon State's 32 first half points, shooting 7 of 13 from the field, and scored 13 straight.

    The Gators (6-2) fhad a strong performance from posts Bernice Mosby and Brittany Davis, who combined for 26 first half points and helped Florida to a 37-32 halfrime lead.

    Tough defense launched Florida to a 50-36 lead early in the second half.

    Florida led by as many as 20.

    Florida held a 40-20 edge on points in the paint and forced 27 Beaver turnovers in the game.

    "Our decision making process was very weak," said OSU head coach Judy Spoelstra. "Our inexperience on the floor shows when the defense picks up."
