HONOLULU (AP) -- Sophomore center Alofa Toiaivao scored 20 points to lead the Hawaii women's basketball team to a 74-63 victory over Texas-El Paso.

Amy Sanders was the second-highest scorer for the Wahine, putting away 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Toiaivao had 12 rebounds.

The Rainbow Wahine led by 20 points at the half, 40-19. UTEP rallied in the second half, but failed to close the gap.

Kasia Krezel was the high scorer for the Miners with 14 points.

UH improves its record to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in Western Athletic Conference play.

Hawaii bounced back from a disappointing 68-54 defeat at Louisiana Tech last weekend, a game in which the Rainbow Wahine had also held a double-digit lead.

The Wahine next face Boise State Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
