Richmond held to 38.5 percent shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (SportsTicker) -- Candice DuPree had a career-high 31 points and 12 rebounds as Temple trounced No. 25 Richmond 82-62, making a statement in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

DuPree made 14-of-20 shots and added four blocks and three steals as she dominated inside on both ends of the floor. Temple shot 61 percent (33-of-54) while holding Richmond to 38.5 percent (25-of-65).

Kamesha Hairston and Cynthia Jordan scored 16 points apiece and Jordan handed out seven assists for the Owls (15-3, 7-0 A-10), who are atop the conference's East Division.

Temple and Xavier are the only teams unbeaten in conference play. Richmond (14-3, 5-2) trails Xavier by two games in the loss column in the West Division.

Kate Flavin scored 20 points and Saona Chapman added 16 for the Spiders, who entered the rankings this week but were coming off Wednesday's league loss to George Washington.

The Owls took a 43-33 lead behind 18 points from DuPree and pulled away in the second half.
