MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) -- Katie Edwards hit all five Montana goals
from the 3-point line Thursday to lead the Lady Griz with 25 points
in a 73-53 Big Sky Conference victory over Portland State.
With the performance, Edwards has marked 52 points in Montana's
last two games and has gone 14-of-22 from the three-point line.
Hollie Tyler added 15 points against the Vikings while Jody McLeod
recorded 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Lady Griz (11-6,
Portland State took an early 5-4 lead, but Montana scored 12
straight points to take its first double-figure lead. During the
run, Edwards hit back-to-back 3-pointers 45 seconds apart. The
Lewistown junior scored 18 points in the first 20 minutes, almost
outscoring the Portland State team.
Montana entered intermission leading 32-19, then led by as many
as 22 points in the second half. The Vikings used an 8-0 run to cut
their disadvantage to 61-49 with less than five minutes remaining.
But Montana closed the game with a 12-4 run.
Heather Arns led Portland State (2-14, 0-4) with 21 points, five
rebounds and five steals in the Vikings' seventh straight loss.
