FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- Amber Watts earned a double-double,
scoring 21 points and grabbing ten rebounds, to lead Mississippi to
a 75-52 win over Arkansas on Sunday.
Carletta Brown had 17 points as the only other Mississippi
player in the double digits while Jada Mincy had 13 rebounds. Sarah
Pfeifer led Arkansas with 14 points.
Arkansas led the first five minutes of the game prompted by a
jump shot sunk by Rochelle Vaughn. The Lady Razorbacks held the
lead until 15:20 in the first, when Watts hit a turnaround jump
shot to make it an 8-6 Lady Rebel lead. Arkansas briefly tied again
with 2:21 left in the half, making it 18-18, but the team went into
the break trailing 25-18.
Arkansas started the second with a turnover and never was able
to regain the lead. Mississippi took over and won by a 23-point
margin. Mississippi had 61 rebounds to Arkansas' 34. Arkansas
didn't hit any 3-pointers in the first half, going 0-for-8.
