PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) -- Washington State University junior Keisha
Moore led the Cougars to a 68-63 victory over the Oregon State
University Beavers Saturday at Friel Court, scoring a career-high
The victory marks the first time the Cougars have beaten the
Beavers since Feb. 13, 1999. Down by 11 in the first half, the win
was a great comeback for Washington State (6-18, 2-13) and only the
second win for the Cougars in league play this year. Oregon State
is 1-13 in league play and 6-18 overall.
The Beavers led 33-30 at halftime, and held a two-point lead
with 14:15 left in the second half. At this point, the Cougars went
on a 14-1 run, 10 of which were scored by Moore. The Beavers were
able to claw back to within two, but clutch free-throw shooting at
the end of the game sealed the win for the Cougars.
The Ducks were led by Shannon Howell who scored a game high 21
points. Juniors Karen Vickery and Mandy Close added 11 and 10
Washington State senior Jessica Perry added 13 points, six
rebounds and six steals in her final home game as a Cougar, while
junior Charmaine Jones added 11 points.
