Smith leads Blue Demons with double-double

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Khara Smith scored 25 points and pulled down 14
rebounds to lead No. 12 DePaul to its 11th straight win with an
82-64 victory over Saint Louis on Friday night.

The Blue Demons (22-3, 11-1 in Conference USA) have won 16 of
their last 17 and have tied the school mark for the best record
through 25 games, a record which has been hit three times,
including last year. The Blue Demons slumped at the end of 2003-04,
and finished with a 23-7 mark.

Smith was one of five Blue Demons in double figures. Jenni Dant
scored 15 for DePaul, while Allie Quigley had 13. Jenna Rubino and
Caprice Smith each added 11.

Mia Johnson led Saint Louis (3-22 and 2-10) with 19 points.
Heather King added 10 points.

DePaul led by 19 at the half and SLU never got closer than 16 in
the second half.

With her team leading 22-14, Smith began to take over. She
scored seven straight points, giving the Blue Demons a 29-14
advantage with 8:20 to go in the first half.

Saint Louis began to crawl back into it, cutting the lead to
39-27 with less than 2 minutes remaining in the half, when Smith
got going again.

She scored the last seven points of the half to give the Blue
Demons a 46-27 halftime lead.
