MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- Connecticut routed West Virginia 71-41 Tuesday night, but the Huskies' streak of 11 straight regular-season Big East titles ended.Ann Strother scored 19 points for No. 14 UConn (20-7, 13-3), which finished in a second-place tie with No. 10 Notre Dame in the Big East. The Irish own the tiebreaker, meaning UConn will get the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament.Ninth-ranked Rutgers clinched the regular-season championship with a 51-39 win over Villanova Tuesday night. The Irish beat Seton Hall.The Huskies had won or shared every Big East regular-season title since the 1993-94 season. They shared the crown with Rutgers in the 1998-99 season.Connecticut, coming off a 51-48 loss at Boston College on Saturday, couldn't pull away from West Virginia until the second half.UConn led 32-25 at halftime but scored 17 of the next 21 points.West Virginia sophomore Meg Bulger clinched her first Big East scoring title (19.5) despite being limited to eight points. No West Virginia player finished in double figures.The Mountaineers (16-11, 7-9) ended the regular season with their two worst losses of the season, falling to Notre Dame 82-57 on Saturday.Connecticut leads the all-time series 15-1 and has outscored West Virginia by an average of 34.5 points. The Mountaineers' only win in the series was in 1982 in their first meeting. With the win, the Huskies avoided losing consecutive games for the first time since 1992-93.The Big East conference tournament begins Saturday in Hartford, Conn. The top four teams earned first-round byes.
