TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Nicole Jules scored 18 points on 8-for-8 shooting to lead Vanderbilt (No. 17 AP, No. 16 ESPN/USA Today) past Clemson 86-49 on Saturday in the consolation game of the WBCA/BTI Classic at Arizona State.Jules, who was 2-for-3 from the free-throw line and played just 22 minutes, led five Commodore players in double figures, including Dee Davis, who added 14 points, six assists and five rebounds. Christina Wirth had 13.Vanderbilt improved to 1-1 after losing to Arizona State (No. 20 AP, No. 18 ESPN/USA Today) 69-60 in Friday night's season opener.The Tigers (0-2) were led by Julie Talley, who scored all of her 14 points in the first half on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the 3-point line. The Commodore defense did not allow Talley to attempt a 3-pointer in the second half.Talley's fourth 3-pointer gave Clemson a 20-14 lead with 10:25 left until halftime. But Vanderbilt then went on a 16-2 run and Clemson never recovered. The Commodores went on a 13-2 run early in the second half to take a 61-37 lead with 14:04 remaining.The Tigers made 17-of-49 from the field (34.7 percent) and committed 24 turnovers, 16 in the second half, leading to 28 Vanderbilt points.The Commodores made 27-of-48 from the field (56.3 percent).Liz Sherwood added 12 points and Carla Thomas added 10 for the winners.
