COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Shay Doron scored 23 points to lead No. 14 Maryland to a 93-68 victory over Xavier in its home opener on Sunday.

Doron scored her 1,000th point for the Terrapins (2-0), reaching the milestone faster than any player in school history. Doron finished 8-of-15 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range.

Kristi Toliver added 16 points for Maryland.

Suntana Granderson had 20 points and Tara Boothe added 16 for Xavier (1-1).

After missing five of their first seven shots, the Terrapins went on a 19-0 run. The Musketeers went more than 6 minutes without a field goal and shot just 39 percent from the floor in the first half.

The Terrapins outrebounded the Musketeers, 48-28, and shot 51 percent from the floor.

Doron needed only 64 games for 1,000 points, becoming the 21st player to surpass the mark at Maryland. Dena Tate scored 1,000 points in her 68th game.
