Second-half run lifts Arizona State past San Diego

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Emily Westerberg had 14 points and eight
rebounds and Kristen Kovesdy added 12 in Arizona State's
67-63 victory over San Diego on Sunday.

Westerberg was 5-for-6 from the field, and Kovesdy went 5-for-7
and Arizona State (3-0), which shot 54 percent overall.

Trailing by a point at the half, the Sun Devils (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today, No. 20 AP) started the
second half with an 18-4 run to take a 50-37 lead, their biggest of
the game.

Kelly Winther's basket brought San Diego (0-2) within five at
66-61 with just over a minute to play, but the Toreros missed
several chances to pull closer in the final minute. Winther, a
freshman, had 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting.
