    Latta just keeps proving her Tar Heel mettle 

    CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Ivory Latta continues to cement her status as one of the best players in North Carolina history.

    Latta collected 20 points and six assists as No. 8 North Carolina cruised to an easy 87-36 victory over Liberty.

    A preseason candidate for the Wade Trophy and Wooden Award, Latta passed Aprille Shaffer for 22nd place on North Carolina's all-time scoring list.

    The junior scored 13 points in the first half, shooting 4-for-5 from the floor and 2-for-3 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes.

    Erlana Larkins collected 15 points and seven rebounds and fellow sophomore LaToya Pringle chipped in with 15 for the Tar Heels, who shot just 38 percent (26-for-68) from the field.

    Senior La'Tangela Atkinson scored eight of her 10 points in the first half for North Carolina, which owned a 49-19 cushion at halftime.

    Megan Frazee collected 13 points and 15 rebounds for Liberty, which shot just 19 percent (10-for-53) from the floor.
