Latta's 28 helps UNC hold off Arizona St

CANCUN, Mexico (AP) -- Ivory Latta scored 28 points to lead No. 7
North Carolina to a 79-72 victory over No. 16 Arizona State at the
Caribbean Classic on Friday.

The Tar Heels (3-0) outrebounded the Sun Devils 38-28, led by
sophomore Erlana Larkins with 12.

Latta shot 7-for-14 from the field, including 4-for-6 on
3-pointers. She also was 10-for-10 from the line and had five
assists in 34 minutes.

Rashanda McCants scored 16 points and La'Tangela Atkinson added
10 for North Carolina, which led 37-27 going into the break and
scored the first five points of the second half.

The Tarheels shot a season-high 48 percent, while the Sun Devils
(3-1) shot 56 percent.

Jill Noe scored 20 points for Arizona State, and went 4-for-5 on
3s. Kristen Kovesdy scored 17 points, Emily Westerberg had 11
points and Aubree Johnson 10.
