Second-half run helps No. 3 LSU top Nebraska

COCONUT GROVE, Fla. (AP) -- Seimone Augustus scored 24 points and No. 3 LSU overcame a six-point halftime deficit to beat Nebraska 74-55 Friday at the Miami Thanksgiving Classic.

Augustus reached double figures in points for the 100th time in her 108-game career.

Sylvia Fowles added 23 points, including 18 in the first half on 7-for-7 shooting. She had nine rebounds for the Tigers (3-0).

Kiera Hardy had 26 points for Nebraska (1-2), which closed the first half on a 12-2 run. She also made five steals.

With Augustus playing only eight minutes because of foul trouble, LSU fell behind 36-30 at halftime. The Tigers then scored the first 15 points of the second half and eventually outscored the Cornhuskers 24-8 over the final 13:05.

Hardy's fourth 3-pointer of the game drew Nebraska within 50-47. But Hardy didn't score again, and the Cornhuskers did not get any closer.

Augustus' layup about five minutes after Hardy's last basket capped an 11-2 burst by LSU, which remained in command the rest of the way.

LSU shot 56 percent for the game, compared with 38.9 percent by Nebraska -- which further hurt itself by committing 25 turnovers.

Quianna Chaney had 11 points and six assists for LSU and RaShonta LeBlanc had 10 points.

The game was part of a three-team, round-robin tournament that continues through Sunday. LSU plays Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday.
