BOZEMAN (AP) -- Post player Jasmine McCullough scored 19 points
Saturday night, leading Marquette to a 76-48 victory over Montana
State in the consolation game of the MSU-Wingate Inn Classic.
Post player Christina Quaye also scored in the double digits,
adding 16 points for Marquette (3-1). She and McCullough connected
on 12-of-20 from the field and 11-of-15 from the free throw line.
They also combined for 12 rebounds.
Montana State (0-3) was led by a pair of freshmen. Nubia Garcia
chipped in a team-high 13 points on six-of-nine from the field,
while Billings native Jenny Heringer ended with 12 points,
connecting of five-of-eight from the floor.
The Golden Eagles pulled away from a 20-19 advantage at the 6:14
mark of the opening stanza with a 13-2 run to take a 33-21 lead
into intermission. Marquette expanded the margin with a 10-2 run
coming out of halftime to put the game away.
Marquette out-rebounded Montana State 39-31 and forced the
Bobcats in 24 turnovers. For the game, the Golden Eagles shot 47
percent from the field, while MSU finished at 42 percent.
Boise State defeated Northern Colorado 73-59 to win the Wingate
The Broncos Jackie Lee earned MVP honors after scoring 20 points
against the Bears.
Also named to the all-tournament team were Michelle Hessing of
Boise State, Jabrenta Hubbard and Danielle Hagen of Northern
Colorado, McCullough of Marquette, and Garcia of Montana State.
