Smith, DePaul advance to Rainbow Classic title game

HONOLULU (AP) -- Khara Smith had 16 points and 14 rebounds to
lead No. 17 DePaul in its 84-71 victor over Texas A&M in the
semifinals of the Rainbow Wahine Classic on Saturday.

Smith earned her second double-double of the tournament, and
shot 7-of-10 from the field. Allie Quigley added 15 points and
seven assists, and Jenna Rubino had 16 of her 18 points in the
first half.

The Blue Demons (4-0) shot 54 percent in the game, often
pounding the ball in to the low block.

DePaul went on a 12-2 run in the middle of the second half to
extend their lead to 68-49 with 10:30 to play. When the Aggies
(2-1) came within 74-62, the Blue Devils answered with a 9-3 run
with 3:05 remaining to put the game out of reach.

Danielle Gant led the Aggies with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Tamea Scales added 13 and Morenike Atunrase 11.

DePaul led 41-35 at the break. They will face the winner of the
Wisconsin-Hawaii semifinal game on Sunday at 5:30.

DePaul's Jarietta Benton added 11 points and Texas A&M's Takia
Sparks had 10 points.
