COCONUT GROVE, Fla. (AP) -- For a change, LSU quickly put a game away.
Seimone Augustus had 19 points and Sylvia Fowles added 12 as No. 3 LSU easily defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 74-45 to win the Miami Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday.
LSU (4-0) used a 15-0 run to take a 23-5 lead midway through the first half and eventually built a 44-18 halftime lead.
The Tigers had trailed at halftime in two of their first three games, including Friday against Nebraska in the tournament's opening round, but were never behind against the overmatched Islanders -- who were playing their third ranked opponent in as many
"It was obvious from the start that our kids were focused," LSU coach Pokey Chatman said. "That is something we emphasized. Overall we are pleased with the effort and know we still have some things to correct."
Augustus, who reached double figures for the 66th consecutive game, moved within eight points of 2,000 for her collegiate career.
She had eight points during that big run and finished with 15 in the opening half, when LSU shot 61.3 percent from the floor and forced 14 turnovers.
LSU's lead swelled to as much as 34 points in the second half, before the Islanders held the Tigers scoreless over the final 4:18.
Terra Andrews had nine points and six rebounds for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (0-3), which completes the three-team, round-robin tournament against Nebraska on Sunday.
The Islanders' two other games this season have been against Vanderbilt, which was ranked 17th at the time, and defending national champion Baylor -- the nation's No. 5 team.
