Smith, Quigley score 23 each in DePaul rout

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Khara Smith and Allie Quigley each scored 23 points to lead No. 14 DePaul to a 91-79 victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Wednesday night. Erin Carney, Jenna Rubino and Erin Cattell each scored 11 points for the Blue Demons, who improved to 6-0. Smith added a game-best 16 rebounds for DePaul, which won its 550th game, against 331 losses, in 32 seasons. Traci Edwards scored 21 points for the Panthers (2-3). Nichole Drummond added 20 points and Molly O'Brien 14. The Panthers are winless in three games against the Blue Demons. After a number of lead changes in the opening minutes of the second half, Missy Mitidiero hit a 3-pointer to put DePaul ahead for good at 48-45. Milwaukee quickly pulled within a point on a pair of free throws by Turquoise McCain. But Quigley, who scored 20 points in the half, responded with a basket and 3-pointer to push the lead to 53-47. The Panthers never got that close again. Smith scored with 5 seconds left in the first half to give DePaul its first lead of the game at 37-36. The Panthers led 19-10 with 13:58 left after a 3-pointer by O'Brien. But the Blue Demons, sparked by nine points from Cattell, a reserve, and 10 from Smith, rallied and caught the Panthers at the end of the period.
