    Kent State 77, Montana State 61

    KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Senior Lindsay Shearer scored 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Kent State past Montana State 77-61 on Saturday.

    Montana State (0-5) freshman Jenny Heringer had 15 points to lead three Bobcat players in double figures, but it wasn't enough. Kent State (4-1) shot 40 percent from the field and outrebounded MSU 41-36.

    The Golden Flashes led 33-23 at the half and built their lead to 12 points before the Bobcats rallied to cut the margin to 44-40 with 13 minutes remaining. Kent State answered with its own 16-2 run to put the game away for good.

    Also in double digits for Montana State were Alyssa Nelson with 11 points and Scotta Morton with 10. Nelson had a team-high five assists, while sophomore Amanda DeHaan tallied eight points and seven rebounds.

    The Bobcats shot 39 percent from the field and converted 15-of-17 free throws, but had 28 turnovers.

    The team hosts Long Beach State on Thursday night in Worthington Arena.
