Georgia spanks Iona behind Baker's 25, early 22-0 run

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Sherill Baker scored a career-high 25 points to lead Georgia (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today, No. 17 AP) to a 97-60 win over Iona on Tuesday night.

Janese Hardrick scored 18 points in a reserve role, Cori Chambers added 15, Megan Darrah 13 and Tasha Humphrey 12.

Martina Weber and Regan Pettijohn each scored 11 points for Iona (2-2). Lauren DeFalco had 10 points.

Georgia (6-2) charged to a 30-8 lead with 7:04 to go in the first half by scoring 22 consecutive points. Hardrick scored 13 points in the run, with three 3-pointers and two breakaway layups.

During the run, Alexis Kendrick became Georgia's 25th 1,000-point scorer with her first basket of the night.

Humphrey, the leading scorer for the Lady Dogs this season, fouled out with 5:58 to play.
