MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- Twiggy McIntyre scored 21 points and Shalee Lehning tied a school record with 20 rebounds as Kansas State beat Louisiana Tech 77-66 on Tuesday night.Lehning, a 5-foot-9 freshman guard, added nine points and eight assists, nearly becoming the sixth player in Big 12 history to record a triple-double.Kimberly Dietz added 16 points and freshman Marlies Gipson a career-high 14 for the Wildcats (5-1), who trailed by one at halftime before going on a late run to pull away.Aarica Ray-Boyd hit five 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead Louisiana Tech (3-2), which entered the game 63-7 all-time against teams from the Big 12. Tamika Kursh added 13 points, Eboni Mangum 11 and Tasha Williams 10 for the Lady Techsters.Kansas State had never beaten Louisiana Tech in six tries, but back-to-back 3-pointers from McIntyre -- two of her five on the night -- gave Kansas State an early lead. A put-back by Lehning and McIntyre's free throw with 1:58 to go pushed the lead to nine -- the largest of the first half. But the Lady Techsters answered in the closing minute, going on a quick 10-0 run capped by Mangum's 3-pointer at the buzzer for a 36-35 lead at the break.Kursh added another basket just after halftime to put Louisiana Tech up by three, but Jessica McFarland scored inside a few minutes later to tie the game. Dietz's deep 3-pointer with 15:10 to go gave Kansas State the lead for good.Kansas State had played six games in 11 days and was coming off a 78-68 loss to Saint Joseph's, a game in which the Wildcats squandered a 17-point second-half lead with turnovers and fouls.Despite committing 20 turnovers against Louisiana Tech -- not to mention 21 fouls that had three players close to fouling out -- the Lady Techsters never took advantage. They shot only 31 percent from the field and were outrebounded 45-34.
