LMU takes early lead before USC takes control

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Camille LeNoir and Jamie Hagiya had 13 points each as USC defeated Loyola Marymount 59-53 Tuesday night at Gersten Pavilion. Ashlee Dunlap led all players with 15 points and 11 rebounds for Loyola Marymount (1-6). No. 24 USC (4-2) is the third ranked opponent that the Lions had faced in the last four games. LMU pulled out to an 11-6 lead in the first seven minutes of the game but the Women of Troy battled back to take a 30-19 lead into the intermission. The Lions cut the lead to three points in the opening minutes of the second half but USC regained the advantage and held on despite shooting only 28.1 percent from the field. The lead was repeatedly cut in the second half but at its peak, back-to-back three-pointers by Hagiya put USC ahead by 12 points with under three minutes remaining in the game. Rachael Ziemann's three-pointer with 51 seconds remaining cut the lead to 56-51. The Women of Troy missed six of nine free-throw attempts in the final 1:16 but the Lions could not cut the deficit.
