MISSOULA (AP) -- Katie Edwards scored 12 points and Mandy Morales
scored all 10 of her points in the first half Tuesday in Montana's
58-50 victory over Idaho, the fifth consecutive win for the Lady
Idaho (3-6) got within 45-44 on a 3-pointer by Leilani Mitchell
with 9:15 remaining, but Montana (8-2) used a 10-0 run, including
six free throws, to take a 55-44 lead with 4:01 to play. Idaho got
no closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Emily Faurholt led Idaho with 22 points and nine rebounds while
Mitchell added 16 points, nine assists and six rebounds.
Idaho led just once in the game, 4-3, after two free throws by
Faurholt just over a minute into the game.
Montana used an 11-0 run, capped with a layup by Sara Gale, to
take a 14-4 lead with 13:53 left in the half. Gale finished with
eight points for the Lady Griz.
Idaho answered with a 12-3 run to pull within 17-16 on a
3-pointer by MacKenzie Flynn with 6:52 left in the half, but
Montana built a 34-22 lead after a 3-pointer by Morales with 28
seconds left in the half.
Johanna Closson led Montana with eight rebounds, Morales had
four assists and Dana Conway was credited with three blocked shots.
