Longhorns lead early, hang on late to beat Islanders

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Nina Norman scored 15 points and Ashley
Lindsey had 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead Texas to a
77-65 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday night.

All of Texas' starters scored in double figures. Tiffany Jackson
and Erika Arriaran each had 13 points, and Erneisha Bailey added

The Longhorns (6-3) blocked 10 shots. Jackson had five blocks
and Lindsey three.

Texas (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today; No. 20 AP) charged to an 11-2 lead with 14:55 left in the first half.

Terra Andrews led the Islanders (5-5) with 27 points and
finished with 11 rebounds. Nicole Duncan added 14 points, and Elisa
Beagle finished with 12 rebounds.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored 23 points off 21 Texas

Texas shot 48 percent from the field, while Texas A&M-Corpus
Christi shot 34 percent.

The Longhorns led 35-23 at the half.
