SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Montana State junior Scotta Morton recorded a
career-high 22 points Wednesday evening, but it wasn't enough as
the Bobcats fell 53-48 to San Diego in the opening game of the
fifth annual Surf'n Slam Classic.
Morton converted eight-of-14 from the field, including four
three-pointers. Also contributing for Montana State (0-10) were
Jenny Heringer with nine, and Whitney Connolly with seven.
The Bobcats, in search of their first win of the season, held a
36-31 advantage at the 8:37 mark of the second stanza on a
three-point play by Morton. But San Diego (4-7) reeled off an 11-0
run over the next three minutes.
A Connolly three-pointer with 3:06 left pulled the Bobcats to
within 47-46, but MSU would get no closer.
